BC Culture Days Provincial Launch

Official Opening Ceremony and Youth Art Challenge

September 28

The launch will focus on a family-friendly appreciation of the arts, including traditional First Nations welcome, live music, art creation, and Museum gallery access. Our goal is to promote accessibility of arts, culture and heritage to youth and families while providing a wide variety of interactive activities.

As British Columbia’s newest Museum, we are dedicated to art that has been created throughout our diverse province. In celebration of the Provincial Culture Days Launch, access to our Permanent Collection of British Columbia Art and our Special Exhibitions will be provided free of charge throughout the evening of September 28 (from 5:30 - 7:30pm only).

Artists between the ages of 13 and 18 will be invited to harness their creativity and participate in a live art competition, in which artists will have only an hour to create their masterpieces. Materials will be provided and young artists will be encouraged to explore a variety of mediums. Completed artworks will be on display throughout BC Culture Days, and voted on by the community throughout the weekend. As a complement to the Youth Art challenge, local musicians and DJs will showcase their talent, allowing visitors to watch, listen and dance to the sounds of the Whistler community.
